Chernobyl Bridge of Death

The story of the Bridge of Death depicted in the HBO “Chernobyl” series is fictional. There is no record of Pripyat residents watching the events unfold from the bridge and consequently all dying from radiation sickness. The bridge however is very much real and it stands only 2 kilometres (1.2 miles) in a straight line from reactor number 4 of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

The Bridge of Death is the main entry point to Pripyat and connects it with Chernobyl Town and further the main road to Kyiv. It spans over a railway line leading to the abandoned Yanov station.
