Shops in Pripyat was among the of the best in the Soviet Union, like everything in this almost utopian city. Even during the worst years for the Soviet economy, nuclear industry employees running in the race for scientific domination between the western nations and the Soviet Union didn’t need to queue for days to buy their daily groceries with meat, fresh vegetables, teas, coffees, home appliances and electronics freely available in the stores.
Below there are some comparison photos of the located on Lenin Avenue and the famous mosaics decorating their side walls. The last photo shows Univermag supermarket on Druzhby Narodov (Friendship of the Nations) street.
